The Diversity 1 Collection
(Grade 1 Six-Packs)
SongLake Books proudly introduces our Diversity 1 set designed for guided reading. Spotlighting diverse races, cultures, ethnicities, and lifestyles, each book portrays children underrepresented in typical classroom reading material.
This Diversity 1 set includes 144 books: 6 copies each of 24 carefully chosen titles from 9 leading companies. Most of these titles can be found in Fountas & Pinnell’s online booklist, assuring that they have been field-trialed in schools across the country. Titles span guided reading levels D – J to meet the range of reading abilities of most first graders. Detailed teacher guides are included for each title as well as a set of labels including title, level, and word count.
In addition we are excited to include 4 specially chosen “read-to” titles. These beautifully written and illustrated books for the teacher to read aloud feature children facing today’s challenges. Ian has autism. Layla wears a head scarf. Neither Marisol MacDonald nor Sparkle Boy conform. All are topics that appeal to curious first graders.
Diversity 1 is affordably priced with shipping charges included. Guided reading books, teacher guides, labels, read-to titles, books from multiple companies are all provided with just one purchase order. Now that’s a time-saver!
