About SongLake Books
SongLake Books was founded in 1998 by Nathan and Carol Levine as a service for Reading Recovery Teachers, Teacher Leaders and Primary Grade Personnel.
We know from our own experience that reading specialists spend countless hours searching through book catalogs, filling out purchase orders and managing collections of books. We know that this time might better be spent working with children. We felt there ought to be a better way.
So, we set out to help teachers find the very best books available . . . and at the same time to simplify the whole book ordering process.
We partner with our most trusted resources including:
- Blueberry Hill Books, Inc.
- Booksource
- Creative Teaching Press ®
- Dominie Press
- Eaglecrest Books
- EPS Literacy & Intervention
- Rigby/Houghton Mifflin
- Kaeden Books ™
- Lee & Low Books
- Mary Ruth Books
- Pioneer Valley Books
- RR Books
- Richard C. Owen Publishers, Inc.
- Seedling Publications, Inc.
- Sundance/ Newbridge ®
We began with a single, comprehensive core of reading books. The current version is the SongLake Books 2020-2021 Collection. We now offer quite a few additional collections to supplement our basic offering. We provide several multiple copy book collections for teachers working with children in grades PreK-4. We’ve even added a Spanish collection!
The response has been wonderful. We provide book collections to hundreds of schools across the country. We have received excellent suggestions and recommendations from many teachers. Best of all, we keep getting comments like these:
“SongLake Books already has great merchandise, but your dedication and service make it a truly outstanding company.” – New York
“Without your collections, so carefully packaged and arranged by reading levels, our program could not have started on time…” – Texas
“Your collection provided the necessary core of books immediately.” – Ohio
“A great idea! One purchase order. No more tedious task poring through multiple catalogues having to write several purchase orders and unpack several shipments.” – New York
“I love your service. All my books, one purchase order. No more flipping through tons of catalogues.” – Texas
“The list of books, the levels, and number of words most helpful. I KNOW I wouldn’t have had time!” – Arkansas
“Thank you for your helpfulness and prompt delivery!” – California
“No more hours spent sorting, just handed the teachers a box.” – Ohio
“Please send another order form. . . . Collection is great!” – Vermont
